New semester! woohoo. I wouldn't be able to be this enthusiastic if I didn't take a mini vacation. New York city was such a good time. I definitely needed it. I love my friend matt and he showed us around to all his usual hangouts. the man has good taste. Josh (my perpetual study partner) went to a dance competition for part of the day and hung out with us later, Alex(a first year) and her friend from back home just happened to be in nyc too that weekend. and they stayed with us. I have pictures up at my usual (though slightly abandoned) online photo album.

My dear friend mary was waiting outside of the test room with a chocalate muffin that weighed like a pound. god bless her :) she's a sweetheart. and then i followed with dinner with another friend. :D

i need to watch tv

A new pope that is super conservative. It was kind of strange reading that there has not been a German pope since the 11th century. Strange because it was phrased as if the 11th century was just the other day. It's strange thinking about how much has happened in the world but there have only been a countable number of popes, they still elect him in the same way. There are parts of life that have managed to remain unaffected by economic growth and the inflictions and innovations of human minds.

I think a lot of people make a living trying to keep up with change: gossip columnists, stock traders, journalists, IT, politicians...and they are usually the most stressed out people we know. And look at how much damage control there is for the unexpected results of change. Think of all the orgs trying to protect/save you from yourself or someone else. It's ridiculous.

I wonder how much more we can change. I suppose there will always be people clamoring for the top, the top of something, even if they don't know what it is or made of. I wonder if they are the most self-aware people. Or maybe they are unaware, that is why life gets so messy complicated.

Wow, has it really just been a week? Anna just left yesterday and we saw so much of DC and NYC together. I must say that NYC on a budget is not highly recommended. It would be one thing to take taxis everywhere, see great broadway shows, and live in a nice hotel. But we were all about subways and hostels. There were great parts though, like the MET, central park even without leaves was nice, times square, chinatown, and all the little neighborhoods in between. I also discovered how much I love Georgetown, in comparison.

So much seems to be happening in everyone else's lives. I caught up a lot on AOL/MSN last night. I can't wait to come home. I propose a big trip to valleyfair for whoever wants to partake.

yeah madonna, so wise. it's spring break, and i'm studying, woohoo! just kidding. i hope you all felt the tinge of sarcasm in my voice. So glad that ANNA is coming to visit though. now that will be my real holiday. minneapolis was great. I'm sorry i didn't have much time to see everyone. and i appreciate the one busing to campus to see me, the one driving me home, the phone calls... yeah i miss minneapolis. I really miss the cheap living. You guys have no idea how good you have it. $1.99 breakfast at Dinkytowner, 12 bottles of wine for $70. Granted, these were all specials, but you wouldn't even see liquidation prices like this in DC!

if we took a holiday
took some time to celebrate
just one day out of life
it would be so nice :)

on that note, i hope you all are having a nice evening.

bises

It's a GREAT day. got up so early that it was still dark. but then i came out of the house and it was a little gray and yellow, and then i came out of the gym, and it was be-u-ti-ful. i think i am just happy that I don't have to work today and no school monday. so four day weekend here I come! time seems to be passing by, steadily by, which is a nice feeling for me. means things are approaching. i hope it's lovely in minneapolis too. bises, judy
